×Built in 1967, the Cox Science Center on the Coral Gables campus is the home to the Department of Biology. The 3-story Brutalist structure was built as a state-of-the-art educational facility with an upscaled energy efficient window system, which was mostly in good condition, but was not impact-resistant. This system was replaced with a High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) code-compliant and impact resistant storefront system. In addition, exterior soffits that were not compliant with the HVHZ code were replaced and hardened.
