The CDC facility is a one-story secure facility that will accommodate 201 to 304 dependent children, six weeks through five years of age, of active-duty service members assigned to Tyndall AFB with full-day, part-day, and hourly childcare services. The spaces included in the facility are core administration spaces, staff support spaces, facility support rooms, and child activity spaces.
The project scope includes following the DoD unified facilities criteria (UFC) and guidelines for terrorism prevention, including the physical design of active shooter shielded rooms. Design of facilities followed DoD Anti-Terrorism Force Protection including stand-off distance design and reinforcing the exterior masonry walls.
