×The design is of a one-story community center at Curtis Park, to replace the existing community center which is beyond its useful life. The new facility includes a large recreation/multi-purpose room, kitchen, computer lab, classrooms, administrative offices, arts and crafts room, restrooms, IT room with laptop charging stations, fitness room, large sport equipment storage with exterior access, and an attached pavilion which opens to a terrace. The project also includes offices for the local Commissioner of the district and also incorporated Art in Public Places.
The biggest challenge in this project was that in the 1940’s the Park was originally a site of an incinerator with contaminated ashes. The site design required environmental remediation plans and construction supervision, both of which are part of the scope, as well as air monitoring during construction.
This project is designed for Sea Level Rise.
