×From the start of his career, Virgil Campaneria has been making impossibly unattainable mission objectives possible. As a U.S. Air Force pararescue man, his sole goal was to rescue, recover and return U.S. servicemen and civilians out of harm’s way. Virgil’s ability to deal with difficult situations and projects displays just a fraction of the motivations/reasons for his success as an architect over the last 30 years.
As the firm’s Healthcare Principal, Virgil is perpetually trailblazing Gurrimatute’s expanding role as a healthcare architectural firm, with a team of professionals that create spaces which promote healing and well-being. Whether it’s simply an ADA - compliant toilet, a first-ever equipment installation, or a 235,760 sf addition to an entire hospital wing, Virgil continuously raises the bar in the healthcare industry by beating impossible odds.
Virgil holds a Professional Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of Miami and is Licensed to practice Architecture and Interior Design in the State of Florida. He has also been involved with Green Building Initiative since 2018 and is currently serving as the Chair of the Consensus Body for New Construction for the Continuous Maintenance process of ANSI/GBI 01-2021: Green Globes Assessment Protocol for Design, New Construction, and Major Renovations. In addition, he has previously served as the President of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) South Florida Post, and various roles in the American Institute of Architects.
When he’s not leading complex architectural projects, he engages his passions by mentoring young professionals and passing on his knowledge, as well as spending time with his family and going skydiving, scuba diving, camping, hiking, and kayaking.
