Robert B Flowers Award Edit

Excellence award to Gurrimatute

Daphne Gurri and Jose Matute (Principals and Owners) of Gurrimatute, were present at the 2024 Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Joint Engineering Training Conference & Expo (JETC) to receive the Robert B. Flowers Small Business Award.

Named after former SAME National President Lt. Gen. Robert B. Flowers, USA (Ret.), the Robert B. Flowers Small Business Award has been a symbol of excellence since its inception in 2004. Gurrimatute’s achievement reflects its dedication to innovation, leadership, and community engagement.

In addition to several of our staff, all three of our Principals (Ms. Gurri, Mr. Matute, and Virgil Campaneria) have been active members of SAME for many years and have served in a variety of roles such as participating in the Architectural Practice Committee (APC), STEM Committee, and all have served as Presidents of the South Florida Post of SAME.

Gurrimatute has also invested in the development of Young Members, Veteran Transition, and Community Outreach & Education. As the Architectural Practice Liaison for the SAME South Florida Post, Ms. Gurri created the first ever event for young girls to learn about STEM careers from panelist of all women architects, engineers, contractors, and the IT field called STEAM Speaks.

“Our team at Gurrimatute is deeply honored to receive the Robert B. Flowers Small Business Award,” said Ms. Gurri. “This recognition reaffirms our commitment to excellence and motivates us to continue striving for innovation and impact in everything we do.”
