Hall of Fame 2023 Awards Ceremony 8920

“I have a genuine love for Miami Dade College because it has fulfilled me and my career in so many ways. I feel as if I have grown with the College throughout different stages of my life.”

On June 2nd, 2023, Daphne Gurri was inducted into the Miami Dade College Alumni Hall of Fame. Ms. Gurri has a special relationship with MDC. In 1987, Ms. Gurri graduated from MDC with an Associate in Arts. After continuing her education at University of Miami and Columbia University, Ms. Gurri returned to MDC in 2012 to enhance her business acumen in the inaugural class of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. Through this, she received her Certificate of Entrepreneurship and took evening classes in Accounting.

In addition to her personal relationship to MDC, Gurrimatute has had a long history with MDC as well. Over the past 14 years, the firm has completed numerous projects on the North, Wolfson, Homestead, Medical, and Eduardo J. Padron campuses. Project types have varied greatly including deferred maintenance, skilled nursing programs, space planning, laboratories, re-roofings, emergency repairs, and most recently the finish-out of floors 11-15 of Building 6 on the Eduardo J. Padron Campus. The firm is also proud to include other MDC graduates as part of the staff and provide opportunities to rising college students.

The Gurri-Matute family legacy has continued at MDC with two of her three children, Isabella and Ignacio, as graduates of the College.
