The design/build of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center consolidated services from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center into one location. The project consisted of a 4-story, 138,244-square-foot addition with a new emergency department and expansion of imaging/ nuclear medicine services, cardiovascular/invasive procedures and 50 critical care units; 6-story 547,399-square-foot cancer treatment center with outpatient clinics and radiation therapy. Renovations to existing facilities include 521,743 square feet for the expansion of laboratory services, endoscopy, imaging, surgery, neurosciences, musculoskeletal, 66 inpatient beds and children’s health services. The project received LEED Gold Certification.
