The project involved the expansion of South Miami Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which is a section of the hospital that treats high-risk new born babies. The project involved the expansion of the existing unit with the addition of 11 larger NICU Level II beds and one family room. This expansion, which was located in an existing postpartum floor, was designed for continued expansions in the future. An existing med-surgical unit is being converted to a postpartum unit. It included a life safety and joint commission study. This is AHCA reviewed and approved project.
