GURRI MATUTE ARCHITECTS HIRE VIRGILIO CAMPANERIA AND EXPAND HEALTHCARE DIVISION

Award-Winning South Florida Architectural Firm Focus on HealthCare with Addition of Acclaimed Architect


Miami, FL – March XX, 2016 – One of the most prominent architects and interior designers in South Florida and the HealthCare industry is joining Gurri Matute PA, a full-service architecture, planning and interior design firm based in Miami, Florida. Virgilio or “Virgil” Campaneria AIA brings his 25+ years of experience to the firm and will serve as Principal of the HealthCare Division.

Campaneria will be responsible for the development and production of HealthCare projects, the coordination of both the design and consultant teams and will manage fiscal responsibilities and project schedules. He will also serve as the Executive Architect of the Jackson Memorial Hospital Expansion Projects, the Public Health Trust’s $1.2 Billion expansion and renovation at Jackson Memorial Hospital Main, North, South and the new West facility.

Virgil Campaneria is well-known in the HealthCare industry for his long-list of projects providing healthcare professionals with the spaces and best environment to help them cure patients and promote healing and wellbeing. His work includes, but is not limited to: Expansion of Miami Children’s Hospital 2,777 square foot Doral Dental Center, a 30,000 square foot addition and expansion at South Miami Hospital Women’s Diagnostic Center, a 698,826 square foot multi-level expansion of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, the 235,760 square foot addition and renovation of a 100-room emergency department for Baptist Hospital in Miami, plus a 96 inpatient Bed Tower addition, the 8,000 square foot renovation of Broward General Hospital’s Psychiatric Unit in Fort Lauderdale, the addition of a 15,000 square foot cardiac cath suite at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the addition of a 15,000 square foot administrative office for the University of Miami’s Department of Family Medicine.

Campaneria is a Registered Architect and Registered Interior Designer in Florida. He has his Bachelors of Architecture Degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. During his 25 year career, he has served as Project Architect, Project Manager and Construction Contract Administrator.

Campaneria always wanted to be an architect, but to pay his way through school, he joined the United States Air Force and became a Pararescue member. On that elite team, his goal was to rescue, recover and return American forces or allies in danger.

His experience on the frontlines and in difficult situations made him perfect for a life in architecture, where he makes the seemingly impossible happen.
